Reasons I Love Direct Sales

Last week I was thinking about the reasons I love direct sales and being an Independent Scentsy Consultant. Every day in this business is a blessing to me, even when there are challenges to overcome or when things don’t work out as planned. So I thought I’d take a few moments to share my thoughts with you in the hopes it might inspire you as well.

My Reasons for Being in Direct Sales

Being my own boss! Simply put, there’s nothing like being able to be the person who is directly responsible for my financial success. I don’t have to rely on someone to fulfill their promises or have to worry about corporate downsizing or other problems by working for someone else.

Setting my own schedule. Building any business requires dedication and sacrifice. You have to put in the time to become successful. But it’s also very different to work to live rather than live to work. My schedule allows me to have fun every day while traveling the country.

Building relationships with others: This is a great reason I love direct sales. The friendships I’ve made with people across the world are priceless. This is a relationship based business and it makes it fun.

Helping people get free stuff. Yeah it sounds crazy, but it’s SO rewarding to help people earn free Scentsy products by hosting parties or by simply giving it away to customers who are amazing.

Mentoring people in business. Having been a stay at home mom for most of my life, one of the greatest aspects of what I do is mentoring other women (and some men) on how to start an online business or launching a stay at home business.

Seeing lives be transformed. We’ve known so many people who were struggling financially and it sucks. But being able to show them how to make money with Scentsy has been awesome!!! Plus it also changed our lives in so many ways.

Having fun while building a business. Starting or building a business is a lot of hard work. This is why I’m so glad being in direct sales as an Independent Scentsy Consultant is really fun. It helps to enjoy what you do and to sell products people love.

Working online is the way of the future. The global pandemic is proof the way we work is changing and more business will be done online in the future. Yet by doing so, it also allows us to live the way we want to live … like taking hikes or going to the beach whenever we want.

Direct sales is a growing and stable trend.

The direct sales industry has grown tremendously over the last several decades. The industry saw a 13.9% growth in 2020 and generated $40.1 billion in sales in the US alone. There were also 7.7 million direct sellers and more than 41 million customers in 2020. – Direct Selling Association

While some people might have a negative view of direct sales, the truth is it’s a viable and real business model. It’s not much different than starting a “traditional business” and there are many reasons to consider being in this industry. Sometimes you have to look at things in a new light and this is one area people should do so.

One of the biggest reasons people don’t succeed is they are misinformed about direct sales. It’s not easy and that’s no different than any other business. You have to work hard and be consistent. But if you actually put in the effort, the payoff is very rewarding!
