Starting a Scentsy Business

If you’re looking to have a side hustle or make a full-time income, there are many reasons for starting a Scentsy business. Besides direct sales being a very viable and profitable business model, it’s a great way to experience freedom. But I don’t want to get ahead of myself because I’d like to share my experience first.

Donetta and I have been in direct sales for almost ten years. I never wanted to sell stuff that others created or be one of those people who asked to show you my opportunity. That just sounds stupid or creepy!!! And as off the wall as my personality is, having others judge me based on what I do wasn’t part of the plan. MLM … really??? Yet here we are, building a successful business in an industry that often gets chastised or simply overlooked.

Direct sales is no different than a traditional business.

In the past ten years we’ve experienced many ups and downs, along with plenty of other challenges. However this is no different than a “traditional” business. You will encounter hardships as well as victories no matter what you sell. People will question your sanity or make fun of you for building your dream. There will be days when you feel like you made a huge mistake or just want to quit.

As a veteran entrepreneur of 30 years, I’ve noticed no difference between what we’ve done with Scentsy as compared to my other businesses. In fact, direct sales is actually easier than starting a company from the ground up in my opinion. So over the years, my entire perspective has changed about this type of business and I fully support it.

Today I want to expand on this more by giving you nine reasons to become an Independent Scentsy Consultant.

Why Start a Scentsy Business?

It’s true this hardened Army Veteran with a macho spirit has embraced the softer side of fragrances. As emasculating as this might sound, there is nothing like spending time in the tub with a glass of craft beer, Taylor Swift on the radio, and Scentsy soak in the water.

All joking aside, there really are great reasons to invest in starting a Scentsy business. Let’s get to work shall we?

1. Work from Home

One of the best things about selling Scentsy is you can do it from almost anywhere. If you want to work from home or build your business while living in hotels, direct sales allows you the freedom to do so.

The pandemic our globe experienced in 2020 has shown us the world of business is changing, along with what we place an importance on.

People are sick and tired of going into an office to work at a job they hate. There’s no reason to sit in hours of traffic or be tied to someone else’s schedule.

Being a Scentsy consultant allows you to avoid these unpleasant situations.

2. Invest Less Money

Starting one of those traditional businesses from the ground up usually requires a crap load of capital to get going.

Most people will borrow money from family and friends or finance their idea via credit cards and second mortgages. If you’re lucky enough to sell equity or get an angel investor, then you can be yoked to the devil herself. Holy hell if this isn’t all stressful!

When you launch a Scentsy business you can do it for very little money … usually less than $99 USD.

That’s approximately 19 Skinny Vanilla Lattes from Starbucks. So you can choose to invest a little or a lot of cash to build a profitable business.

3. Experience Not Required

Have you ever been turned down for great opportunity because you didn’t have any experience or training? Perhaps you applied for an SBA loan or investment but they laughed at you for not having business experience either. It’s happened to me and it sucks.

Should you decide to sell Scentsy and become a consultant, you don’t have to worry about having experience.

The company has so many valuable resources to show you how to build the business step-by-step. And as your sponsor, we would help coach you towards success. And honestly, these products are so desired they sell themselves.

4. Unlimited Income Potential

Nothing is worse than working your ass off for a company and getting a cap on what you can earn in return. It happens all the time. People give their lives to someone else who doesn’t truly appreciate the sacrifices made. The people at the top get rich and those at the bottom stay poor. Now THAT is a real pyramid scheme in my opinion.

As an Independent Scentsy Consultant you are the only one that can prevent you from making money. Please read that again!

If you want to earn a little or a lot, it’s entirely up to you. Yes it’s hard work but would you rather build an empire for yourself or someone else?*

5. Earn Incredible Incentives

Does your current business or place of employment send you on a free Alaskan Cruise for a job well done? Have you been rewarded with time on the sandy beach of a private island or gleefully swimming with dolphins? If not you should.

One of the aspects I love about launching a new business is having a blank canvas to create whatever I envision. On the flip side, I absolutely hate having a blank canvas and having to create all the materials, design the entire process, and implement a system. It’s a double edged sword.

When starting a Scentsy business you are getting access to a proven and effective business system.

You will have a step-by-step plan, training videos, resources, workstation, catalogs, and more. Some of it is free and others require additional money, but they provide everything you need to get going and to grow your business. That’s something I have come to appreciate.

7. Coaching and Guidance

Without a shadow of a doubt, having a business coach or mentor is one of the most valuable assets for achieving a high level of success. It’s difficult to go it alone or to build your dream without some form of guidance.

I spent years struggling to get my marketing and website business in a good place and it wasn’t until I got some coaching and mentoring that it became profitable.

There are so many fantastic people involved with Scentsy who will help coach you and provide guidance.

As Three Dog Night sang, “One is The Loneliest Numbers” and it’s so very true. You don’t want to feel alone on your journey towards greatness.

Thankfully there is a large community – fellow consultants and team members – to rely on.

I’ll shoot straight with you; the Scentsy community isn’t perfect. It’s like any family with dysfunctional members who make you want to choke them. But there really are so many wonderful people who will cheer for you, cry with you, and who will share their own created resources or advice with you.

It can be like having a thousand ninjas at your disposal. Only their weapons are wax and warmers.

All of these reasons would be absolutely pointless without a solid and great company behind it.
